Ethics Infographic Instructions
DUE: Friday, December 4th @ 10pm to the assignment on Canvas.
Worth: 5% of your final grade

Giving voice to our values is important because our values are important.
We value things because they are good and right, not just for us, but for
others as well. You can choose any material from the course to present.
An Infographic is a set of images, charts, and/or words that give someone
an overview of a topic in a way that is easy to understand.
Here’s a sample infographic (yours should be more creative & feature images):

advertise costs money (despite appearing to be free), so you’re strongly discouraged from using it.
In this assignment, you are charged with inspiring other people who are similar to you in
terms of temperament and/or values to give voice to their values:

You need to choose one lesson from the course and represent it as an infographic to achieve
this objective. It can be from any point in the semester.

You’re encouraged to have fun and be creative with this assignment! Try to make something
that will stick with someone and be informative—something that could help someone in a tense
moment remember what they need to do to voice their values or inspire someone to prepare for
such a moment.
Some programs you can use to create your infographic: Word, PowerPoint, Photoshop,
Illustrator, Paint, Paint 3D, GIMP (a free, open-source version of Photoshop), and any other
program you’re familiar with. You can also draw an image by hand, scan it or photograph it,
and upload it.
 This component is worth 50 points (see below) and 5% of your final grade.
 See posted samples for more information.
The rules are as follows:
ï‚· Final result must display in the SpeedGrader on Canvas.
o Do not make an infographic that is so big that you cannot view the whole thing
on your screen. My screen is 21 inches, and I should be able to view your entire
infographic at once.
o Text should be legible when viewing the entire infographic on one screen.
o File types accepted: .pdf, .doc, .docx, .ppt, .pptx, .jpg, .png, .gif, and .svg.
ï‚· It is your choice whether you want to put your name on it (but make sure you upload it
on Canvas, so it is attached to your name). We may be using these in future Business
Ethics classes, to illustrate class themes. If you don’t mind sharing your work, it is your
choice whether you’d like it shared anonymously or not (see below for opt out info).
ï‚· If you do not want me to use this infographic in future semesters of PHIL 431, you must
leave a submission comment that says “Please do not use this in the future†on Canvas.
ï‚· Can be color or black & white.
ï‚· Can be hand-drawn or computer-created. It is ok to copy and paste other graphics into
your infographic.
ï‚· It will likely contain text, but if you are really creative, it is conceptually possible to do
this without words. Just remember, you need to inspire people to more effectively &
more often give voice to their values, and words seem critical to this to me.
ï‚· You will not be graded based on artistic ability.
ï‚· You will be graded based on:
o Whether your infographic displays in the SpeedGrader on Canvas. It must be
sized so I can view the entire graphic & read the text on my 21 inch computer
screen. It must also be an accepted file type & turned in on time (10 points).
o Connection to class themes. Whether your infographic clearly references things
we’ve discussed this semester, such as: ethics, ethical theories, society,
stakeholders, responsibility, leadership, business culture, enablers/disablers,
Giving Voice to Values assumptions, and so on (10 points).
o Message. Whether your infographic has a clear message to people that inspires
them to give voice to their values more often and more effectively (20 points).
o Originality. Whether your infographic shows your unique perspective, and
whether it evinces effort. (10 points).
